“So,” he said, his deep voice echoing around them. “You’ve survived another day. Tell me, have you learned anything?” His words were like the rumble of distant thunder, sending shivers down their spines. Alex cleared his throat nervously and took a step forward.
“We’ve…” he began, but was cut off by a raised hand from their master. “I asked for your opinions, not facts. Tell me what you think of your time here so far.” Alex swallowed hard and looked up at his master, trying to gather his thoughts.
“It’s been… intense,” Lily said softly, finally finding her voice. “But we’re learning a lot.” She glanced over at her brother, who nodded in agreement. The master’s eyes softened slightly, and he let out a slow, deep breath.
“Good,” he said. “Because you’re going to be doing much more than just learning from now on. Tomorrow, you’re going to put your new skills to the test. And if you fail,” he added, his voice dropping to a dangerous whisper, “there will be consequences.”
The twins exchanged nervous glances. They had only been here for five days, and already they felt like they were on the edge of their limits. But they knew that this was their chance to prove themselves, to rise above the ordinary and become truly extraordinary.
As the sun disappeared completely, the twins made their way back to their small quarters, their minds whirling with thoughts of what lay ahead.
